About the book
As kids think of a symbol, their brains, unable to distinguish imagination from reality, release a specific chemical response tied to the emotion linked to the symbol.
The science behind our book
According to researchers, psychologists, and psychiatrists alike, the psychological needs that are universally important for psychological wellbeing and autonomous motivation are: relatedness, competence, autonomy.
Relatedness is associated with the feeling of being connected to those around you and the sense that they genuinely care. This is why love is considered the primary emotion among the six.
The fulfillment of competence is achieved when a child feels capable of accomplishing tasks and achieving goals. Essentially, it is the feeling of being competent and capable enough. To address this need for competence in children, we have included the emotion of trust.
The need for autonomy is met when individuals have the freedom to lead an authentic life on their own terms. When children feel empowered and in control of their choices, their autonomy need is fulfilled. To address this, we have incorporated the emotion of courage.
THE SIX BASE EMOTIONS
LOVE
Relatedness is associated with the feeling of being connected to those around you and the sense that they genuinely care. This is why love is considered the primary emotion among the six.
HAPPINESS
The pursuit of happiness is a crucial objective in human life and is second in the hierarchy of emotions. Children possess this sentiment naturally, but it can wane as they age. Thus, it is important to maintain their happiness and enthusiasm throughout their lives.
COURAGE
To fulfill the need for autonomy, children must have the freedom to make choices and lead an authentic life. Incorporating courage can help empower children and provide them with a sense of control.
GRATEFULNESS
The concept of gratefulness was introduced with the aim of teaching children to maintain a positive outlook, even in difficult circumstances. The benefits of cultivating gratefulness are widely recognized, making it a natural choice for our initiative.
TRUST
The fulfillment of competence is achieved when a child feels capable of accomplishing tasks and achieving goals. Essentially, it is the feeling of being competent and capable enough. To address this need for competence in children, we have included the emotion of trust.
PEACE
Peace is presented as being one of the supreme missions of a Superhero and it’s aim is to inspire the children to see the oneness and the interconnectedness of the world.
